After months of careful preparation and planning, the day was finally here. Over 1000 members of the Hampton Roads community showed up for the 17th annual Family VOLUNTEER Day at Virginia Wesleyan College in Norfolk. The Payday Team was proud to be involved. The work load was massive, but it paled in comparison to the enthusiasm and energy of the volunteers. Over 16,000 pounds of food was organized, boxed and finally distributed to 14 local non-profits serving our community’s most in need. Organizations like H.E.R Shelter, Samaritan House, Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank were all recipients of the day’s bounty (and just like Volunteer Hampton Roads, they’re all Payday clients!)
Payday would like to recognize and thank VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads for all they do for our community. For 57 years they have mobilizing citizens to volunteer and inspiring the next generation to get involved. They have strengthened our local non-profits and been instrumental in engaging local businesses, encouraging them to answer the call. We couldn’t be more proud of the work you do!
