On October 2, 2015, The Pantry of Broward hosted its first annual B.J. Buntrock Golf Tournament at the Fort Lauderdale Country Club. Elizabeth Betty Joanne Huizenga Buntrock (but known by most as “B.J.”) was a longtime philanthropist and activist who passed away in 2014. In 2008, B.J. founded The Pantry of Broward to provide food to grandparents who raise grandchildren. As well, the organization helps seniors who live on a fixed income.
Payday is proud to support B.J.’s mission and stand beside The Pantry of Broward’s important work in Ft. Lauderdale. Payday Regional Manager Jeff Marbach served on the golf tournament committee and made sure Payday gave its respects to a woman who did so much for our community.
In an article about her life in the Sun Sentinel, Pantry board chair E.J. Spector, said:
“She never liked anybody to clap for her. She just did these things because she was the quiet donor behind the scenes.”
Thanks to B.J.’s generosity, The Pantry has helped thousands of seniors and children throughout Broward County. To learn more about the Pantry great cause, please visit its website.
